What makes Theora Connect better than Apple Watch?
The Theora Connect smartwatch is intentionally designed for older adults to provide more independence and freedom in life. In fact, we co-designed our watch with older adults, people with dementia, and caregivers to specifically address details that other brand smartwatches may overlook. For instance, we have kept the watch face information large as eyesight and dexterity can decline with age. We have made the communication function not only easy with both touch and voice capability but in cases of emergency, the smartwatch can contact SOS contacts if the wearer does not answer. It is lightweight on the wrist since heavier watches can become uncomfortable. And it streamlines communication but maintains privacy for the wearer.
From a technology standpoint our Theora Rhythms with advanced AI and neural networking along with precise GPS tracking is industry-leading and we are the only Smart Fall Detection app that can both predict and detect falls with a >95% accurate false/positive rating – far above other wrist wearables. We have also won awards, grants and recognition for our technology from prestigious organizations such as the Longitude Prize on Dementia and the National Institute on Aging.
Is the Theora Connect smartwatch and subscription covered by Medicare or other health organizations?
We are actively working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that determines reimbursements and covered products but as of 2026, our Theora Connect is not part of that list. However, working with local and national nonprofits as well as senior living communities and health care companies, some of our partners will cover the cost of the watch and/or subscription. We are expanding these partnerships all the time but if interested, please contact us for our partners to date. We also provide a standard letter for private insurance reimbursement.
If I have an existing fall detection app/service from my Apple watch but I want to get a Theora Connect smartwatch – will that existing fall detection app work on Theora Care?
